Vacation Bible School has been in full swing at my Church this week. I do not feel like I have had a chance to breath since Saturday! But even with the lack of down time (I can tell from this week I have had too much of it) I am feeling very blessed! Blessed not stressed! Our theme is colossal coaster world and it is so much fun. I am teaching 3, 4, & 5 year old toddlers about Jesus and how he died to save us. How reassuring that is...to know that once my earthly life is over, I will spend an eternity with my Savior. This age group has been challenging for me! I am used to only 1 three year old...our class size is 12! 12 little ones wanting to go potty, 12 little ones needing drinks, 12 little ones not sharing! I do not see how these large families do it! Kudos to them! Landon is doing great in the class though, he says his bible verse with spirit and sings his little songs so cute! I'm one proud momma!
This is my last week of my math summer class. Hallelujah! I am so very thankful for that because it has about killed me! I am working on my Rank I and decided to take my 2 elective courses this summer so I can be finished in May and get my awesome pay raise for the beginning of the next school year. This class is called "Teaching Math to Low Achievers" and let me just tell you, I feel like a low achiever after being in it! There is just SO much to do in such a short amount of time. 15 chapters to read, article readings and reflections, discussion boards, and 2-3 other assignments per week is ridiculous! At the beginning of the course, I didn't put in my 110% that I normally would. I am not very dedicated to online courses, but when my grade dropped from an A to a B, I kicked it in full gear...this girl has a 4.0 and I am not letting this class change that! I am now back in my A comfort zone! I hope that my next class that begins in a few weeks is much nicer to my summer vacation!

Fun weekend with Family!
This weekend was great and very relaxing! Hank, Landon, and I spent Sunday, "Father's Day" with some of our family at our cousin's Dennis and Jenny's new farm in Gravel Switch, KY! I know, what a name Gravel Switch! But lemme tell you, it was beautiful! Landon enjoyed chasing ducks, chickens, and roosters & watching the huge pig roll around in the mud! We had great food, conversations, and new memories. Our weekend in pictures!
Landon and the PIG with no name...he needs a name! |
Landon enjoyed chasing chickens on the farm! I'm surprised they didn't peck him to death!

Beautiful sunset after an evening of fishing. |
Landon is getting the hang of casting! |
We had some company at the pond! |
This is how we roll! Top down and radio up! |
Like father, like son....and in every way! |
MOM had the biggest catch of the day! |
My decorations are still from last year...work in progress! |
It makes me very happy to not have boxes and totes on top of tables! I have an image in my head of how I want my superhero city to look...and I believe it is happening! |
I'm so excited to have extra work space this year! I have no clue how extra space came about, but I am digging it! |
getting my classroom ready for superheroes!
Today I went back to school for a couple hours (and I do mean 2!) to try and unpack and organize my classroom. I didn't think I would get too much accomplished since my little rascal was coming with me, but to my surprise I actually unpacked everything except my chapter books! I'm not sure if I like how the desks are arranged, but I will try it out! Now to decorate...my most favorite thing!

Example of an enVision lesson
enVision math is what I teach and
I absolutely love it!
During the video (guided practice), it pauses for student answers and class discussion.
My favorite online math resource
ixl math practice
This year, my school got a membership for all students and teachers to IXL Math. IXL is by far my favorite online math resource as well as my student's. IXL is an online grade level math practice environment that encourages students to do their best, reteaches them when they make mistakes, and rewards them when they complete assignments. Teachers can monitor student progress and receive weekly reports for their entire class. Students are able to get on IXL at school and at home. Teachers can chose assignments for students based on learning topics, standards, or what the individual student needs help on. Students and teachers can practice a limited amount of questions on IXL without an account daily to try it out.
